Picking the Perfect Cycling Bicycle is Easier Said Than Done

The preferred mode of transport has taken an unlikely turn in recent years. While the majority of people in the western world seemed most interested in travelling via automobile, in the last couple of decades many people have been choosing the bicycle as their primary mode of transportation. This could be because down to the prices of gas and running a car, or perhaps people are deciding to care more for the planet. The fact is there are plenty more cyclists on the road now than there were just a few years ago. Have you been tempted to use a bike for your everyday transport needs? If you have been thinking about using a bike as your main mode of transportation, or just thinking about getting one for fun, there are a few things you need to think about.

It’s okay for fashion to affect the decision you make about your new bicycle. The color we like best, or the style we like least, all influence our choices. You’d be silly not to pay attention to these factors when getting your new bike. Obviously, the style and fashion elements of the bicycle should blog not be your top priority (unless the bicycle is just for show). Safety and comfort should be considered first. After ensuring both safety and comfort, see which ones you like the actual design of best. You will also need to consider which handlebars you want on your bike. There are plenty types of handlebars to choose from. Traditional handlebars that just go straight out are good for maneuvering over difficult terrain. They are good for distributing your weight as you ride over a bigger area. If you are going to be racing, however, you’ll want handlebars that are slimmer and that force you to lean forward to create a more streamlined effect, which can help you go faster on the road. If you aren’t going to be using your bicycle very often, you might simply opt for a handlebar style that feels comfortable and makes it easier to store your bicycle while you aren’t using it.

Where you set the angle of your seat is also something to consider. The seat is designed to be tilted any way you want it to. You might find that a perfectly flat seat is a little uncomfortable and that you prefer to lean forward a little bit. Adjust your seat so that this is possible. You may not want to adjust the seat at all in the beginning, then after a ride realize that the way it was positioned is not the way you want it at all.

Your main priority is the physical fit of your bike. This is the most important thing to consider when looking into using a bike to get around. You need to feel safe but also comfortable on your bike, otherwise you won't enjoy riding it!
